CHARACTERISTICS: this fruit is characterized and differentiates from the second flower prickly pear (available instead from mid-September) to be a “first” fruit available in August. At the same time it is also:

  • very delicate, smaller caliber, medium consistency;
  • the fruit is cleaned by minimizing the thorns (peel with a knife and fork)
  • we recommend storage in the fridge.

Description

Prickly pears of Sicilian origin first flower available for purchase online. Prickly pears of first flower and / or Agostani (Augustan), are ready already in the first months of August until the beginning of September.

They are collected fresh and shipped, ready to be enjoyed directly on your tables. It differs from the second flower by being:

  • with a few more seeds than the second flower;
  • less tasty than the second flower but still excellent to eat as a fresh fruit or to taste if you make an excellent “prickly pear mustard” or “prickly pear cream”.

DISTINCTIVE PROPERTIES:

  • Rich in mineral salts;
  • Rich in essential amino acids;
  • Presence of fibers and mucilages that give a sense of satiety.
